What is an Ex area?
Ex areas can be known by different names such as “Hazardous Locations”, “Hazardous Areas”, “Explosive Atmospheres”, and the like and relate to areas where flammable liquids, vapours, gases or combustible dust are likely to occur in quantities sufficient to cause a fire or explosion.
The modern-day automation of industry has meant an increased need to use equipment in Ex areas. Such equipment is termed “Ex equipment”
IECEx International Certification System
In addition to the preparation of International Standards, the IEC facilitates the operation of Conformity Assessment Systems. One such System is the IECEx System.
Mark Scheme
KAMA also has a Mark Scheme system in place, in conjunction with our ISO 9001: 2015 Quality Management System which qualifies us to manufacture products under local certification and products with the IECEx certification.
What is a Mark Scheme?
It allows KAMA Industries to certify our EX products without sending them to a Testing Laboratory as long as we comply with the required standards that fall under the mark scheme. We get audited biannually by an approved Test laboratory to ensure we comply with the Mark Scheme standards. This enables us to supply a high-quality EX product at a reduced lead time.
