In the recent issue, our company’s expansion journey took centre stage. With a doubling of our manufacturing capacity, Kama Industries is rising to meet the escalating demand for explosion-proof signalling devices, such as our renowned Banshee range.

Our ISO Representative, Istene Seiler, encapsulated the significance of this strategic transition: “Expanding our manufacturing capabilities not only enables us to meet the rising demand for our product lines but also enhances operational efficiency and scalability by increasing storage capacity for raw materials and finished goods.”

As highlighted in the feature, Africa stands as a key market for our specialised Banshee explosion-proof range, given the continent’s extensive mining and petrochemical infrastructure. Our commitment to quality and innovation has positioned our Banshee flameproof products as the preferred choice for hazardous environments, offering superior safety, durability, and customisable options.

Since our inception in 1989, Kama has continually evolved, now boasting a diverse portfolio of 29 explosion-proof products, from motorised sirens to trip switches. Our journey began with a vision to address the gap in South Africa’s market for specialised flameproof equipment, and today, with multiple global certifications, we adhere to the highest international safety standards.

Central to our operations is a dedication to sourcing components locally, ensuring efficient lead times while nurturing strong supplier relationships. Our manufacturing facility in Krugersdorp is structured for bulk production, capable of delivering batches ranging from 10 to 200 units at a time.

To maintain optimal stock levels, we employ a meticulous approach encompassing economic order quantities, production forecasts, and material requirements planning. Despite challenges such as load shedding, we uphold our commitment to customers with a standard manufacturing lead time target of two weeks, supported by rigorous planning and resilient supplier relationships.

Looking beyond borders, our global export operations are managed with precision, staying attuned to regulatory dynamics to ensure the timely delivery of international orders.
